Your rep takes you far into Night City, and as your notoriety grows Cyberpunk 2077your street credit.

Next to your usual XP bar in the upper left corner or on the screen, there’s another green one, perched on top like the flippant trilbies you loot from expired mobsters – it’s your Street Cred XP.

There are a few things that are specifically locked by your Street Cred, including some of Cyberpunk 2077’s best weapons, vehicles, and lucrative gig opportunities, so it’s worth investing some time to level up.

What does Street Cred do in Cyberpunk 2077?

Basically, Street Cred has a few main functions in Cyberpunk 2077:

  • Unlock new stocks at Ripperdocs, weapon vendors, and clothing stores around Night City.
  • Improve your relationship with the diverse roster of repairmen, unlocking new items to buy from them, as well as more lucrative gigs.

When you open the trade menu in a store, many items will likely be crossed out. These can be items you don’t have the funds for, or if they’re marked with a green “SC” they are things you need more Street Cred to equip.

This includes some of the funniest and most interesting Cyberware items in the game. The base Rare Mantis Blades and Gorilla Arms, for example, require 20 Street Cred, while the Epic versions require 25 Street Cred, and so on.

Upgrading your Street Cred quickly allows you to use those upgrades earlier in the game, which is only ever a good thing.

Also, when you reach a new Street Cred level, you might notice that at the bottom of the popup, it says “Gigs Unlocked” followed by a number.

Gigs are lucrative side contracts distributed by Night City’s many repairmen throughout Cyberpunk 2077’s neighborhoods.

These combat and stealth missions ask you to become a hitman, steal a valuable item, sabotage a rival gang or other illicit activities.

These are great diversions from your main quests and allow you to accumulate funds to buy expensive items.

How to increase Street Cred in Cyberpunk 2077

Generally speaking, V’s Street Cred increases with the number of Dangerous Situations they have successfully navigated. This usually involves taking on one (or more) of Night City’s wanted criminals.

This can range from taking on enemies in the main story – and since unsurprisingly many of the people V encounters have criminal records, you’ll almost always earn Street Cred on every mission, even if you’re not actively looking for it. — but you can also try your hand at hunting bounties Where help the NCPD fight street crime.

Is it strange that an anti-establishment figure like V gains reputation with his equally shady acquaintances by actively helping the police eliminate the criminal element of the city? Yeah, but it’s a pretty good way to get the Street Cred you need, so it’s probably best to go with it and not think too much about it.

But if teaming up with the NCPD gives you a crisis of conscience too often, you can also increase Street Cred by completing Gigs. Gigs are no different in practice than Bounties or Street Crimes, but instead of discovering them yourself as you scour the map, they’re given to you by your Black Market Fixer contacts. So it’s honest mercenary work, rather than selling out by replacing the police.

You unlock more varied and lucrative gigs as your Street Cred increases, and in turn, completing a gig improves your Street Cred. It’s a cyclical relationship that builds your trust with Fixers, which has added benefits like unlocking some of the coolest vehicles in the game that they exclusively have for sale.

Street Cred is capped at level 50in which case you will have access to all associated items and opportunities in the game.

Premiums

You will naturally accumulate more and increase your Street Cred while playing Cyberpunk 2077, but if you want to work more efficiently, you will have to turn bounty hunter.

When you scan particular enemies, you’ll see an additional popup showing their Night City criminal record and the price on their head. They spawn all over town, in gigs and side quests, and in main missions, so it’s worth keeping an eye out for them wherever you go.

Along with a small cash bonus from the NCPD, you’ll earn Street Cred for defeating this enemy.

Reported Crimes, Organized Criminal Activity, Ongoing Assault, and Cyberpsycho Observation Events

However, if you want to intentionally seek out more wanted criminals instead of waiting to encounter one on the street, try searching for reported crimes and other crime-related world events on the map, where they are marked with a blue icon.

Not only do these also reward you with cash and a chance to get iconic blueprints, but they often feature tons of wanted enemies to boost your level.

Dress for success (with a samurai jacket)

Certain clothes give V a small boost to their Street Cred earnings when wearing them. A notable example is the Samurai Jacket, which increases the rate at which Street Cred accumulates by 5%. You get the jacket for completing the “Chippin’ In” side job. It’s worth keeping an eye on the stats of any clothes you buy to see if you can get any additional boosts from them.
