Easy School Lunch Ideas
I have fond memories of my school lunch days with brown bags – bologna, cheese and mayonnaise on a white bread sandwich, a small bag of crisps and fruit was my favourite. As a parent of two children at school, I quickly learned that they didn’t like the same kinds of school meals as I did. We don’t start the new school year for a few weeks, but many children are already leaving for their first days across the country.
If you’re not sure what to pack for lunch, here are some easy school lunch ideas:
Easy School Lunch Sandwiches
1. Nut butter + jelly – if your school doesn’t allow peanut butter, there are alternatives, like sun butter.
1.Pita Bread + Hummus + Vegetables
1. Meat + Cheese Rolls
1.Bagel + favorite condiment (cream cheese, jelly, peanut butter)
1. Egg salad on a sliding bun
1. Chicken Salad Sandwich

Note: To warm a child’s thermos, fill it with hot or boiling water. Put the lid on. Let sit for 5 minutes while you prepare the rest of the lunch, then pour in the water. Once the thermos is hot, quickly add the hot food and close the lid tightly.
