Lewes Senior Activity Center re-elects board members


Lewes Senior Activity Center has announced that Sue Elliot, Cheryl Buxton and John Walker have been re-elected to serve on the board at the annual members’ meeting on June 9.

Elliot, who served three years on the board, will begin his second term. She has been an active volunteer at the center for five years and has previously served on several boards in the Washington, DC metro area. She holds a master’s degree in human resources and, before retiring to Lewes, had a 30-year career in administration at the University of Maryland.

Buxton is also beginning his second three-year term. She has been an active volunteer at the center for five years. As a member of the board of directors, she served on the membership and strategic planning committees. She is a retired registered nurse with a master’s degree in nursing management.

Walker is entering his third term. A volunteer at LSAC for eight years, he served as secretary of the board of directors for the past three years and treasurer of the center for the previous three years. An army veteran, he had a 23-year career at IBM before retiring.

Located at 32083 Janice Road in Lewes, the center promotes the health and well-being of people aged 50 or over, offering fitness and exercise classes, arts and crafts classes, social gatherings , affordable travel and community service opportunities for its members.
