Ryan Gosling is no stranger to transforming for a movie role — and we the people have absolutely no complaints. From a handlebar mustache to bleached blonde hair, Gosling has simply still withdraw it.

Now, that unspoken rule has been put to the test due to his latest transformation, which revealed a side to the actor that we sure haven’t seen before.

Thursday morning, Warner Bros. dropped the first look at Gosling as Barbie’s love interest Ken in Greta Gerwig’s upcoming feature film, Barbie. In it, Gosling has all the ingredients for features synonymous with Ken. His hair is completely bleached blonde, his abs are defined and chiseled, his skin is stacked with faux tan and, perhaps most eye-catching of all, he wears a pale blue denim vest and pants with a pair of exposed jocks from ‘Ken’ brand.

Folks, this is truly a sight to behold.

Indeed, it seems that our baby faced Noah from Notebook notoriety has been replaced by a plastic life. But is it really so fantastic? The internet certainly has thoughts on this.

As soon as the image dropped, fans and followers flocked to Twitter and Instagram to share their views on the transformation. While some thought Goslings’ new look was perfect, others were a little less enthusiastic. The rest of us? We were there to enjoy the chaotic comparisons people started drawing.

Suffice to say, Gosling’s new bleached blonde hair doesn’t compare to hers A place beyond the pines bad boy, nor Ken’s apparent penchant for showing his underwear does nothing for us.
Curiously, we were almost spared from ever laying our eyeballs on the image when it was rumored that Gosling originally turned down the offer to play Ken alongside Margot Robbie as Barbie in the new movie. But the studio insisted he would only go ahead if he joined the cast. Due to filming delays, Gosling suddenly found “an opening in his schedule” and signed on.

The film is due out in July 2023, so we have time to wait to see Gosling and Robbie on screen, but in the meantime, enjoy these brilliant (and accurate) reactions and memes served up by netizens.
