Cozy Grove Tips and Tricks: Your Beginner’s Guide to Appeasing Ghosts

Source: iMore
Cozy Grove combines my love of camping, animals and spooky ghosts to create one of the most charming games I have ever seen. While hand-drawn pictures make you feel comfortable, some of the tasks that are asked of you are not that easy. I’ve created a list of 10 tips and tricks I wish I knew before I launched Cozy Grove to help you out. At this point, most animal life sims remind me of Animal Crossing: New Horizons, so be prepared for plenty of comparisons as we dive into the Cozy Grove tips and tricks.
This is a relatively small game that only takes up 596MB, so you won’t need that much space on your microSD card to play it. But you’ll still want to make sure you have some space before you download it.
1. When Flamey ignites, a new character can appear.
After giving Flamey the specified number of logs he asks for, he will transform into a creepy blue flame. When it returns to normal, some changes will have been made to your island. Check around; you will likely find new items and bear spirits to interact with.
2. Not Feed the spirits!

Every now and then you will notice a little imp walking around with a bubble above its head representing an object. If you give them this item, they will reward you with money or other items. However, they are shy, so you can’t get close to them. Instead, equip the item in your hand, then use ZR to throw it at them. They will run and pick it up. When you see a heart above their head, approach and interact with them to get your reward.
3. You are going to want to make money fast!

You will soon find that upgrading things around the island takes many silver. There isn’t much you can do at the start of the game to add funds to your pockets, but you will need it because even quest items get expensive quickly. Here are the best ways to make money.
- Go fishing: Once you get your fishing rod, you can catch fish all over the island and then sell it to Mr. Kit for cash.
- Check the piles of leaves: You will find piles of leaves everywhere. Sometimes when cleaning them you will find old coins.
- Digging cracks: Once you get a shovel, use it to dig whenever you see a crack in the ground. You will often dig up food or old coins. As always, you can sell the excess food to Mr. Kit for cash.
- Get rid of shrubs: When you get a machete, attack the curly plants around the island to get items and old coins.
4. Check your mail for goodies

You will receive letters every day in the game. Most of them have gifts attached. Sometimes these items will be needed for quests, or they will just allow you to do more in-game, so check your mail daily.
5. Add to the collection of Captain Billweather Snout

In some ways, this bear (which looks a lot more like a bird) acts like Animal Crossing’s Blathers. You can return one of each item you find to him and he will reward you with Quartz Gems, which can be used to purchase special items from Mr. Kit, the Fox, or to craft valuable items.
6. Upgrade your camp ASAP!

The size of your camp is directly related to the number of items you can store. Luckily, Flamey can help you move to bigger digs if you pay for it. Upgrading is expensive, but being able to store more stuff makes life easier.
7. Some quests have time limits

As you progress through the game you will start to notice that some quests have time limits. If you don’t want to miss out on the rewards from these quests, you’ll want to complete them as soon as you can.
8. Sometimes Mr. Kit has the answer

You might pick up an item all over the island and find Mr. Kit has it in his shop. You can also help him improve his shop and carry more items by giving him old coins. Sometimes this is necessary to complete other quests. Just be aware that if you pay to upgrade their store, it will automatically close until the next day. So make sure you do all of your shopping for the day before starting the upgrade.
9. Consult with Flamey, Charlotte Pine or your guide when you are confused.

-
Charlotte pine is the first Bear Spirit you will encounter after you start your game. If you can’t find an item needed for a quest, you can pay for it to help locate it. A small green icon with a magnifying glass symbol will appear and direct you to an item.
-
Flamy can tell you how many logs are currently available for you to retrieve and can also tell you if nothing else can be done for the day. Sometimes you will literally have to wait until the next day before you can progress further in the game.
-
Your guide is accessed by pressing X. Scroll through the quests on your right to find out more about what you are trying to do. You might realize that you have all the items you need to complete a quest, but you just need to do something with them, like burn them down.
10. Don’t forget to redeem your badges!

You can display your badge list by pressing the – button. Badges are rewarded for completing various tasks, such as catching 5 fish, placing 10 decorations, or collecting 15 piles of leaves. Much like Nookmiles in Animal Crossing, you only get your rewards for completing these badges if you actually interact with them, so check your badges regularly for sweet goodies. Common rewards include hundreds of old coins or quartz gems.
11. Articles have likes and dislikes

Many things, especially plants, are influenced by their surroundings. The happier a plant, the more you can harvest. For example, in the picture above, the potted tulip likes flowering potted plants, lamps and cozy decor, but dislikes rustic settings. Since he’s near a lamp, his leaf gauge fills more than one unit. He will be even happier and produce more tulips if more of his likes are placed near him.
12. Sometimes you can’t do anything else for the day.

Cozy Grove is only meant to be played for 20-30 minutes each day. As such, there comes a time each day when you cannot progress through your quests until the next day arrives. So just step into the game knowing this, and you won’t feel so frustrated. It’s supposed to be a cool game after all.
If you don’t want to wait, you can always go to your Switch’s settings and change the date, but we don’t know if that will negatively affect the game. For example, if you do this in Animal Crossing, all the turnips you get purchased will rot automatically. We haven’t experienced anything like it in Cozy Grove yet, but something like this may have made its way into the game.
Living the life at Cozy Grove
With these tips and tricks from Cozy Grove, you will be able to start making money and helping ghosts in no time. Keep in mind that sometimes the game will not allow you to progress further and you will have to wait until the next day for more quests to appear.

Paper Mario wouldn’t have existed without an SNES classic
Paper Mario is a beloved series and now that the first game has made its way to the Nintendo Switch Online + expansion pack, everyone should be playing it. Although I love this game, it still makes me sad for the SNES game that inspired it. legendary camera
