Thanks to an extended role in Season 2 of Euphoria, everyone seemed to be talking about Maude Apatow for the past few months. It’s certainly her biggest role to date, but the talented young actress has been working since she was literally just a child.

As the daughter of filmmaker Judd Apatow and actor Leslie Mann, she was born into the industry. Still, she doesn’t have a lengthy filmography, appearing in 10 movies and TV shows not counting shorts or deleted scenes. She’s made sure to make an impact, as most of her roles are in well-received projects.

The film centers on a small town that descends into violence and chaos when everyone’s secrets are leaked to the public. Apatow has a small but pivotal role as Grace, who butts heads with another girl (Bella Thorne) who showed off her nudes to her boyfriend.

The house of tomorrow is an indie film that does a great job blending impressive young actors with veterans who have starred in dozens of roles. Maude Apatow is joined by lead actor Asa Butterfield and Alex Wolff as young stars alongside Nick Offerman, Ellen Burstyn and more.

The premise of The house of tomorrow, based on a novel of the same name, sees Sebastian (Butterfield) emerge from his isolated life when he meets a rocker named Jared (Wolff) and his sister Meredith (Apatow). Critics found it added nothing new to the genre but was still an endearing tale.

8 It’s 40 (2012) – 6.2

Maude and her sister Iris had the pleasure of working with their parents on several occasions. It happened in It’s 40which stars Leslie Mann and is directed by Judd Apatow, with Maude and Iris playing Mann’s character’s daughters.

A spin-off sequel to knocked up, this story picks up five years later as Debbie (Mann) and Pete (Paul Rudd) struggle with their relationship around Debbie’s 40th birthday. Maude Apatow reprises her role as Sadie but adds teenage angst to it, which leads to some hilarious scenes.

The second collaboration Maude Apatow had with her parents came in 2009 funny people. Again directed by Judd Apatow, funny people is a comedy-drama centered around a comedian (Adam Sandler) who tries to mend barriers with his loved ones after being diagnosed with a terminal illness.

Mann plays Laura, Sandler’s character’s ex-wife, while Maude Apatow joins an excellent supporting cast as Mable. This supporting cast includes Seth Rogen, Aubrey Plaza, Eric Bana, and more. Although some complained about the film’s length, reviews were positive.

6 Other People (2016) – 6.8

Another independent film on Maude Apatow’s CV, The other people is led by the talented duo Jesse Plemons and Molly Shannon. The focus is on David (Plemons), a struggling comedian who comes out of a breakup and returns home to care for his dying mother (Shannon).

As funny people, this has comedic elements but is also heavy with emotional drama. Apatow portrays Alexandra, David’s younger sister, and is given some good material to work with. Reviews were strong, especially when it came to the performances of the two leads.

Most people saw Maude Apatow for the first time in knocked up. It was his screen debut from his scenes in The 40 year old virgin were eventually left on the cutting room floor. Here she plays Sadie for the first time.

Set five years before It’s 40, Apatow was very young here, which played into her scenes as she often had adorable reactions to weird things her family did. The film centers on Sadie’s aunt, Alison (Katherine Heigl), as she becomes pregnant after a one-night stand with a slacker (Seth Rogen).

4 The King of Staten Island (2020) – 7.1

Working with her dad again, Maude Apatow had an impressive supporting role in The King of Staten Island. Loosely based on the life of Pete Davidson, he plays Scott, a young man struggling to regain his life years after his father died fighting a fire.

Maude Apatow plays Scott’s younger sister, Claire, and she gets some of the best scenes in the movie. Although she is younger than Scott, she often acts as the adult and the voice of reason. You can really see Apatow’s improvement and growth as a performer here.

3 Girls (2012-2017) – 7.3

The first television series in which Maude Apatow appeared was that of HBO Girls. The show was a hit in the early 2010s, helping launch the careers of Jemima Kirke, Zosia Mamet, Adam Driver, Allison Williams and several others.

Created by and starring Lena Dunham, the series centers on the lives of four friends living in New York City. Reviews were strong for the most part, especially for the realistic characters who weren’t always likable. Apatow appears in three episodes as Cleo.

2 Hollywood (2020) – 7.5

At some point, it seems like almost every young actor works in a Ryan Murphy show. For Maude Apatow, it happened in Hollywooda Netflix original miniseries that centers on a group of aspiring actors and filmmakers trying to make it big in the late 1940s.

Joining a cast that includes Darren Criss, Laura Harrier, Samara Weaving, Jim Parsons and more, Maude Apatow plays Henrietta Castello, the pregnant wife of series protagonist Jack (David Corenswet). She only appears in about half of the episodes and although the role isn’t big, she shines.

Maude Apatow’s biggest role is as Lexi Howard on one of the most popular shows currently airing, Euphoria. It follows a group of teenagers dealing with relationships, sexuality, substance abuse, trauma and more. Add in intriguing aesthetics, a stellar soundtrack, and terrific performances and you’ll see why the show works.

Lexi is best friends with protagonist Rue (Zendaya) and sister to Cassie (Sydney Sweeney). In Season 1, Lexi was a background player but fans loved her and wanted more. Season 2 gave her that platform, as she grew into a character who played a memorable part and was a highlight of the season.
