What are FiveM servers?

FiveM started in 2015 but only recently took off in the past few years. Its primary purpose is to be a dedicated server platform which allows the online GTA community to join and play in a unique GTA world created by modders. The main purpose of a server is to take the original platform from the standard online mode and add specific features not initially included. How do I access FiveM?

Create a character for RP

Most RP servers actually follow similar guidelines regarding rules to follow in the online community. First, power play is a big one. In short, it is described as “doing an action that is unrealistic or forcing a player to do a certain action.” For example, suppose a player issues a command that causes another player to shoot, and the targeted player responds with a command saying “dodged all the bullets”. This is unrealistic and not allowed in the online community, so follow accordingly.

The following rule is called metagame. Basically, when you’re on an RP server, you are not allowed to talk to other players in a way that is considered unusual with respect to your backstory. You’re only allowed to know the information your character would know in-game, and it’s critical not to recognize real-world details. For example, if you hear on Discord something happening at a certain point on the map, you can’t mention anything in-game unless you’re actually there. Talking about character destroys the role-playing feel and is not allowed in many communities.
