Ryan Gosling’s self-tanner as Ken in the Barbie movie

If you’re still unaware of the photos of Ryan Gosling as Ken in the upcoming “Barbie” movie, you’re in good company. We can’t stop studying every snapshot of the actor, alongside Margot Robbie as Barbie, in costume – from bleached blonde hair and rock-hard abs, all the way to a golden tan. In case you were wondering how Gosling got her glow for filming, the film’s resident tanning specialist, Kimberley Nkosishared the exact product she used on him.
“For me, applying self-tanner is not about spraying something and hoping for the best,” Nkosi wrote in her Instagram caption. “It’s more about a feeling than a look. Also, when you’re working on set, there’s so much to consider that the camera picks up every little detail and can completely change the look tan, especially under the lights. Being aware of this and being consistent is key to getting a flawless tan every time.”
To create the perfect tan for Gosling’s Ken doll, Nkosi used Isle of Paradise Self-Tanning Water ($32) in the medium shade “with a touch of black to balance her undertone and make sure it was ready for the camera”. But every self-tanning fanatic knows that the process begins in the preparation phase. Before applying it, she used Paradise Island’s Prep It Self-Tanning Primer Spray ($24).
To maintain bronze and keep skin hydrated (which helps color last longer and look even), Nkosi also revealed that she used Glossier Balm Dotcom Mango ($12) and Body Oil energizing Dr. Hauschka Lemon Lemongrass ($29) to make her shine.
Now, if you’ll excuse us, we’re going to test this tan combo.
