Scream’s Courteney Cox Reveals When The Sixth Movie Should Start Filming (And It’s Soon)

The last Yell The film revived the horror series and even hit a box office milestone for the franchise. The film’s surprise success led to a sixth Yell the film being officially in preparation. Of course, dedicated new fans were waiting to hear who might return for the sequel. While the directors and studio haven’t said a word about the film, Yell Vet Courteney Cox may have given viewers the update they’ve been craving.

As early as the Cry 6 news was announced, the Olympics Yell The star mentioned that she was set for another battle with Ghostface if Matt Bettinelli-Olpin and Tyler Gillett were attached to direct the follow-up. Despite news of the sequel, no current information has been leaked about the plot or who is or isn’t returning. But Courteney Cox just gave Yell fans a crucial update on the sixth film while appearing on Variety’s Just a Variety Podcast:

I received the script yesterday. I haven’t read it yet, I just received it. … I’m excited to read it, and I know they’re going to start filming, I think, in June, in Canada. I don’t know if I’m supposed to say something. Let me tell you the killer!

Thank goodness for Gale Weathers and his talent for giving the scoop. Courteney Cox was careful not to spoil the film too much given that she had yet read the script, even though she almost playfully revealed who the killer might be. At least viewers now know there’s a script and production is set to begin in June in Canada. Of course, everything can change given the unpredictable nature of the COVID pandemic, but hopefully the schedule will work out and moviegoers will have the sixth movie in a year or two.

SPOILERS for the last Yell the movie is up!

While Courteney Cox is apparently on board, it’s unclear who else will be returning for the Yell to follow. It was not clear whether the other Yell vet Never Campbell would return for Cry 6, as she had not yet received or read a script. Hopefully that will change after Cox’s update. Fans will have to wait for her to read the draft to see if Campbell returns. Sadly, David Arquette won’t be back after his shocking death in the relaunch.

With the storyline reaching OG stars, perhaps new stars like Melissa Barrera and Jenny Ortega will return for the new movie. Sure, Yell Newbie Jasmin Savoy Brown is a little nervous about her and co-star Mason Gooding’s fate as the Meek twins in the new film despite surviving the murderous carnage of the previous film. Know the Yell franchise, viewers might have fresher faces to attack, kill, or turn out to be Ghostface.

If you expect more Cry 6 the information makes you nervous, you subscribe to Paramount + or Amazon Prime to watch the full Yell franchise from the beginning to today. You can keep checking back with CinemaBlend for the latest updates on the Yell continued.
