TRIP (2022) Supernatural Horror Movie Reviews

Travel is a 2022 American supernatural horror film about who takes a hallucinogenic drug to reconnect with his dead daughter.

Written, co-produced, directed and edited by Neil McCay. Also produced by Jonny Blackburn, Gary Elmore and David Groves.

The 611-Films-Leadfeather Productions film stars Akasha Villalobos, Major Dodge, Peggy Schott and Jill Young.

Following the suicide of her daughter, a grieving mother is visited by an unconventional therapist who offers her a hallucinogenic drug that will allow communion with the dead.

Desperate to understand her daughter’s psyche, she accepts the offer and soon finds herself terrorized by her daughter’s identical experiences…

“This movie is a little slow, as it only has a few scary scenes in the first two acts, but those scenes are generally effective. Granted, they’re not super scary, but they’re scary enough that I had a really good time watching them, and if you’re a fan of supernatural horror, I think you will be, too. Obsessive Horror

“A very beautiful, somewhat slow-paced piece of horror that manages to tell a very complex and well-structured story that provides the suspension of disbelief it demands with solid storytelling that doesn’t take shortcuts but works towards its shocks and manages to surprise many times along the way, and an achievement that strikes the right balance between suspense and jump scares…” Search my trash

Travel is a watchable film, but hardly essential. Neil McCay has accomplished a lot for very little, but the film never quite manages to make the material about Ally’s grief and its effects as compelling as it needs to be. As a result, the lack of characters and locations drags the first half down […] the horror elements induce scares and tension, but are also often predictable. 2.5/5 Voice from the balcony

Terror Films distributes Travel and will release the film on their AVOD channel on May 13, 2022. A wide digital release will follow on May 20, 2022.
